Welcome to the Gracie Center of Self Defense The Rilion Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy, located in Miami, is the premier academy for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Florida. It is the home of authentic Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Founded by Rilion’s father, Carlos Gracie Sr., in the 1920’s, Gracie Jiu Jitsu has been proven to be the most effective form of self defense ever developed. Rilion is widely recognized as one of the best Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the world. He is the only member of the famous Gracie family teaching in Florida. Rilion has instructed members of the U.S. Armed Forces, law enforcement officers, air marshals, security professionals, as well as private citizens. Students come from all around the world to train and improve their skills at our academy. Jiu Jitsu, however, is for everyone, regardless of age, gender, body type or physical ability. By using leverage, balance and technique, a weaker individual can defend themselves against stronger, more physically capable opponents. If you are a student of Jiu Jitsu, a seasoned competitor, or a beginner who wants to learn self defense, the Rilion Gracie Academy is for you. Everybody is welcome to be a part of our team--children and adults alike! In our programs, students learn the following techniques: Stand up and ground fighting Kicking and punching Take downs and throws Chokes and submission holds Weapons defense and retention Fitness, conditioning, and more.
